B&LE Stone Bridge Pier Mystery

This is a stone pier for the B&LE Railroad Bridge over the Allegheny River at Harmar Twp, Pa. The pier is on the north approach very near to Freeport Road and the Pa. Turnpike. The original Pier was built in the late 1890's and expanded in 1918. This is part of the1918 expansion. This pier is now over 100 years old. But what are the numbers carved in the stones blocks? These numbers meant something to someone back in 1918.......and this is the mystery....what did they mean? Numerous carved numbers can be found.
