Stigma to accessing mental health services: WHAT FLOWERS THEY BLOOM

Excerpt from WHAT FLOWERS THEY BLOOM, an award winning documentary film detailing the mental health impacts experience by racialized communities. The stigma to admit to having mental health issues can be very powerful with various cultural groups. The statistics on Asian Canadians accessing mental health services is low not because there is low need for services, but because is shame and stigma and a lack of means to access services in a discrete and culturally sensitive way.

WHAT FLOWERS THEY BLOOM will screen in Fredericton at the University of New Brunswick campus on Nov 4th, 2023.
