Westworld Season 3 opens with a solid episode 1 that takes us outside the park into the real world in the year 2058. Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) is going after humans that she encountered in the Westworld park, and is focused on a company called Incite. At the end of season 2 she escaped in a host body that resembled Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson) and recreated her own body while making a copy of Bernard Lowe (Jeffrey Wright). These 3 are operating in the real world. She brought 5 pearls or host consciousnesses with her, but we don’t know which hosts they came from, or which one is inside the Hale body.

Episode 1 of Westworld season 3 was directed by the show’s co-creator Jonathon Nolan, who also wrote the episode with his co-creator and wife Lisa Joy. We meet a new character named Caleb (Aaron Paul) who is human who is living life under the algorithmic determinism of Incite’s system named Rehoboam. He is a struggling military veteran who works as a construction worker in Los Angeles. Caleb does crimes through the Rico app to make extra money because his mother is in the hospital with early dementia.

We don’t see William aka the Man in Black (Ed Harris) in s03x01, but we do see Maeve (Thandie Newton) in a post credits scene. Maeve has been stationed inside a different park called Warworld. Warworld looks to be fashioned after Europe during the second World War.
