Back in Kansas! Oregon Trail Nature Park
We're back! Though we enjoyed our time in the deserts of New Mexico, we were very happy to return to our beautiful Kansas prairie! First place on our agenda is a little known place between Belevue and St. Marys, Kansas known as Oregon Trail Nature Park! The park sits along Oregon Trail Road which, as you might have guessed, is built on an actual stretch of The Oregon Trail! There are three short but very scenic hiking trails in this picturesque park that offer views of the landscape and wildlife of the Kaw River Valley. In the park sits a silo that is decorated with murals depicting prairie wildlife, a native bison hunt, and a family's journey on the trail itself. Though the murals are weather worn, it is still a sight to see! Come and join us on our first hike back in Kansas at the Oregon Trail Nature Park!
