What a meme.

I have to admit, when you guys first suggested that I take a look at this song, I was confused as to why it was so highly recommended… and then I saw the memes. I got a good chuckle out of them, and listening to the first 15 seconds or so of the song over and over again got me in the zone to do an arrangement of this song!

This song ended up being pretty fun to arrange. I was confronted with the challenge of how to make this fast and short tune into a decently lengthy arrangement early on, so I one of the things I decided to add was the sax soli right at 1:34. i think it’s one of my best sax solis yet (the first to feature some bari sax in it as well!), and it’s also by far my HARDEST sax soli. Seriously, if you’re a sax player, check out the sheet music for that section. It’s ridiculously hard. After many takes and some splicing… I got some good results from it! Following that section of the arrangement, I thought it’d be fun to add a Jacob Collier-style melodica solo! This song is fun and lighthearted, so I wanted to keep that vibe by using a few fun instruments like the melodica and my bell set.

By now you’ve noticed that I now have a baritone saxophone! I’ve been searching for a bari at a reasonable price for the past few months, and I was lucky enough to find one being sold at a music store in my hometown. After trying it out, I knew that this was the horn to pull the trigger on! It’s a used Yanagisawa B990. The horn was fully serviced before I got my hands on it, and as such, it plays wonderfully! I’m really excited to be playing bari again in my videos.
