Restoring Pasture with Rotational Grazing // Homesteading

The answer to overgrazed land is, weirdly, more grazing. This video was sponsored by Squarespace. To get 10% off a site of your own, visit https://www.squarespace.com/anneofalltrades

Talk about an instant farm, my friend Zack from the Nashville Chew Crew brought his 125 sheep over to my new farm in just 1 hour, where they will be pastured over the winter to mob graze (also known as rotationally grazing) and start the restorative process for our pasture land. Regenerative farming practices like these improve soil health and soil quality over time. An interesting permaculture practice using regenerative farming methods, mob grazing puts concentrated numbers of animals on small areas of grass and then they are rotated frequently. It can be done on a large scale like this, or even in a simple back yard grazing pattern. This helps deal with parasite management and makes the sheep less "choosy" when it comes to weeds and other invasive species. Zack also taught me how to efficiently put out and store electric fencing, and will be teaching me about livestock guardians in future videos. In this video, we show how to set up electric netting, how to charge an electric fence, and how electric fencing works for easy, efficient rotational grazing.
