1,200 Drones Light Up Hong Kong Skyline in Spectacular National Day Show

More than a thousand drones lit up the night sky over Hong Kong on Thursday, marking the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Footage captured at Wan Chai's harbourfront shows 1,200 drones creating images such as the Chinese national flag and Hong Kong landmarks. Crowds watching along the waterfront can be seen filming the display.

“The scene was impressive... China has grown rapidly over the past few decades. Now that society is better and the standard of living is higher. That's why we can travel between Hong Kong and mainland China and share the same heart,” said one spectator.

Themed around 'Celebrating the 76th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China,' the 15-minute performance was organised by Bauhinia Culture Holdings Limited and Bauhinia Magazine.

The celebrations took place during China's eight-day National Day ‘Golden Week' holiday, which coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival this year.
