Chopin: Polonaise in A (Military) Op.40, No.1 ~ Nick Ariondo, solo accordion

https://www.youtube.com/user/nickariondo1/videos
Originally composed for solo piano by Frédéric François Chopin (1810-1849), Nick Ariondo's arrangement demonstrates the accordion's powerful dynamic range, delicate phrasing capabilities and colorful sound textures. The accordion's reeds and bellows produce an orchestral quality as Ariondo expertly applies bellows control along with an acquired right and left hand technique carrying over and overlapping chords and melodies that help simulate the rich sonorities, harmonics and sustaining power of the piano.....The Polonaise, considered a stately ceremonial procession, originated in the 17th century at the Polish court as an accompaniment for festive processions. Early dance-related examples occur in works of Bach and Handel during the Baroque era. But, in the hands of Chopin himself, the Polonaise was used as a symbol of national heroism and chivalry with life and spirit of its native Poland. Frederic Chopin was a prolific composer of piano music -- born in Poland, died in Paris, of Polish and French parentage.
