KOFFEE DID THIS AND GOT HUGE reaction from kids in Jamaica (koffee school tour)
Jamaica’s sweetheart singjay, Koffee, is headlining her own tour here at home – the Haffi Make It School Tour. Named after a song that is yet to be released, the tour is currently focused on high school students, by encouraging them to unlock their creative potential.
Koffee’s team told The Gleaner that the Haffi Make It School Tour is merely an introduction to a developing scholarship programme. The scholarship will be launched as a joint effort between Koffee Music LLC and the Mentoring and Training Leaders for Tomorrow programme, founded by Koffee’s manager, Tammi Chang. In partnership with the Rotary Club, the scholarship is meant to encourage youth empowerment, targeting youth between the ages of 12 and 25.
Regardless of her own youthfulness, 19-year-old Koffee has already been positioned as a guiding light. Although she is in the midst of her whirlwind world tour, opening for the Canadian singer-songwriter, Daniel Caesar, on the Case Study 01 Tour, she has made some time to dedicate to philanthropic pursuits. The Toast hitmaker has taken advantage of a slight lull in her booked dates to connect with her young fans, before she jets off around the world again.
The Haffi Make It School Tour is made possible with corporate sponsorship from National Bakery. Brand manager of biscuits and snacks at the bakery, Kari Steele, said:
“Contribution to positive nation building doesn’t have to be traditional; their contribution can be through arts and entertainment. It’s important that we guide them (the students) early about the steps that they need to take to make a business from entertainment.”
Ferncourt High, Ocho Rios High and St. Elizabeth Technical High schools have already enjoyed visits from Koffee. She shared messages of passion and stick-to-it-iveness, then gave small offerings of her own talent and skill.
MESSAGE OF PERSEVERANCE
“The message I want to leave with everyone is that no matter what you do, what you’re interested in or what you’d like to become, once you put your all into it, you can get where you want to go,” Koffee, who caused much speculation after she wiped her Instagram account clean on the weekend, told the students of Ferncourt High School earlier this week.
For the rest of the month, Koffee will visit Hampton School for Girls and Newell High School. Other schools have not yet been confirmed.
In November, the young star heads back out on the road to complete her tour with Caesar. Nevertheless, there is no intent for the school tour to come to a final stop so soon.
The Haffi Make It School Tour will resume in January 2020. Koffee’s management team hopes to travel islandwide, then eventually branch out into the Caribbean region
