Traumatic Brain Injury and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation
2019 was the year that changed Luis's life. He became stronger, he gained muscle mass, his expression became more relaxed. It was as though he was preparing for the magnificent things this year has for him.
Luis began a new treatment called Transcranial magnetic stimulation. So, what is TMS? Well, it's a non invasive procedure that uses magnetic fields to target specific areas of the brain. The magnetic pulses improve neuronic connections. How will it help Luis? While TMS targets specific areas of the brain, the effects are also propagated throughout it, so what this means is that change or evolution is not specific. His body however is letting us know that his brain has already responded to treatment. We start this journey full of hope, excitement and gratitude. We decided to welcome you guys into this experience, hoping that if it all goes well, it serves as a tool for someone who is interested in learning more about this treatment.
Speaking of helpful tools, we also want to take the time to talk about a tool that has been very helpful to us. It's an app that we are sure you have heard about, and it's called Abridge. Abridge is an app that allows you to record your doctors appointments. Out of many appointments, this by far was one of the most important ones, for we learned so many new things. Abridge was there for me. I was calm and present throughout the appointment, for I knew that Abridge was recording everything. It was like having an extra pair of ears, only better for I was able to listen to our appointment word by word back home! If you have heard about Abridge before, but you haven't downloaded it yet, you need to give it a go! It has been so helpful to us, and we know it will be helpful to you.
