Dutch farming from above Pt. 3 | Autumn | Big harvesters, foragers & tractors

We wrap up the farming year in part 3 focusing on the autumn jobs (or fall for our American viewers :-)). Autumn in the Netherlands means that a lot of root crops are getting harvested. In August and early September this starts with seed potatoes and onions. Main crop potatoes and sugar beet follow in October. Due to the extremely wet season we've had potato harvestering took place well into November under some dreadfull conditions. Multiple self-propelled harvesters working in one field were not uncommon to see. On dairy and cattle farms harvesting is also taking place. We join some impressive contractors' outfits as they gather in the last grass silage followed by forage maize. Then it is to the cultivators, subsoilers and ploughs to prepare for next years crop. Sadly, due to the weather, a lot of cereals couldn't be drilled.

This video shows you some mega harvesting action with large self propelled bunker harvesters from Grimme, Dewulf and AVR being shown. But, also sugar beet harvesters from Vervaet en Agrifac can be watched in action. Krone and New Holland self-propelled forage harvesters are also on display. Of course there is a wide variety of tractors in action. From the mighty Fendt 1050 Vario ploughing with an 8 furrow Lemken to some modern classic John Deere action and everything in between.

We hope you have enjoyed our three part overview of the 2019 farming year. Stay tuned for new videos from the 2020 season!
