Ferreting in snow
No matter how hard we try to harness and control it, nature does want it wants and we are completely powerless to stop it. When we were ferreting away from home recently, we had a little reminder of just how quickly the weather can turn. When we set off it was bright, cold but dry. We got dropped off and in a squint of a ferrets eye, the sky dusted us in snow. This made ferreting problematic, so we decided to ferret a warren under some tree. The nets were dropped and ferrets entered and after some scary digs and slippery bolts, we decided to cal it a day just after our bacon baps. Ferreting in the snow make look fun, well, it is fun, but you must also be careful. It was a good job we hadn’t laid out any purse nets as they would have been covered and possibly lost. No such problems with the long nets. If the snow was deep enough to cover them then we would have been in a spot of bother.
