Irish PM says 'day-to-day concerns' are priority for Northern Ireland, not reunification

The British and Irish governments have played down Sinn Féin’s calls for Irish unity and said Northern Ireland’s new devolved government can restore stability and faith in the region.

Leo Varadkar declined to be drawn on whether he expected a united Ireland in his lifetime, which he has said before. Ireland’s Taoiseach told a press conference that day-to-day concerns would be top of the list of priorities for the new Northern Ireland executive.
