Protect Your Battery Bank from Over-discharge with DIY LVD - Tutorial (TAGALOG)
It's a tiny device that plays a big role in keeping the battery bank/cells healthy. Avoid over-discharge or simply add extra protection for your battery bank.
How does the setup work?
First thing first. The LVD module (low voltage disconnect) has to be set to a low voltage cut-off and so as the reconnect voltage. Whenever the battery bank voltage reaches the low cut-off, the LVD turns off the DC supply of the inverter or load, giving time for the battery bank to get charged from the solar panel. Once the recovery voltage is reached, the LVD turns on, triggering the relay coil and switching on the DC supply of the inverter.
This module might not the most accurate there is in the market, but still, it does its job and it's pretty much an affordable/cheap tiny thing. Pair it with a "heavy/continuous duty relay switch" and it's just as good as any expensive battery protection out there.
Note: It's highly recommended to use a continuous heavy-duty, high-rated relay switch for bigger and higher amps solar setup applications. The best type of relay for this project is a solid-state relay.
Even if you already have a BMS installed on your Lithium battery bank, this is still very handy for a fully customized DOD %. This is not intended for hybrid inverters nor for inverters with AC support.
