Actor James Caan talks with Jimmy Carter about his career...

After early roles in Howard Hawk's El Dorado (1966), Robert Altman's Countdown (1967) and Francis Ford Coppola's The Rain People (1969), he came to prominence in the 1970s with significant roles in films such as Brian's Song (1971), Cinderella Liberty (1973), The Gambler (1974), Rollerball (1975), A Bridge Too Far (1977) and Alan J. Pakula's Comes a Horseman (1978). For his signature role in The Godfather (1972), that of hot-tempered Sonny Corleone, Caan was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and the corresponding Golden Globe. He reprised the role of Sonny Corleone at the end of The Godfather Part II in a cameo appearance.

Caan's subsequent notable performances include roles in Michael Mann's Thief (1981), Francis Ford Coppola's Gardens of Stone (1987), Misery (1990), Dick Tracy (1990), Wes Anderson's Bottle Rocket (1996), James Gray's The Yards (2000), Lars Von Trier's Dogville (2003) and Elf (2003).

For his contributions to the film industry, Caan was inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1978 with a motion pictures star located at 6648 Hollywood Boulevard.[2][3]
