"This concert was given in the Church of the Holy Trinity, Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia, PA in late October, 1996 as part of the aftermath of a long strike by the musicians of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Union solidarity showed itself well here as the brass players of the NY Philharmonic, Baltimore Symphony, and National Symphony Orchestras joined forces with Philadelphia musicians on a voluntary basis. This was the final piece by Richard Strauss."
