Georgian voters may be the only way to stop 'the radical Democratic agenda'

Republicans in Georgia must win the looming special Senate runoff races if they want to ensure the Democrats don't radically alter America's electoral system, according to Sky News contributor Miranda Devine.

While Joe Biden set to become America's 46th president, control of the US Senate is still to be decided.

There are two seats in Georgia still to be decided. If the Democrats win both, the Senate will be split 50-50.

In the case of a tie vote, Vice President Kamala Harris will be allowed to cast a ballot, in effect giving Democrats a 51-50 majority.

The race between Republicans David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler and their challengers, Democrats Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, is expected to be close.

Ms Devine told Sky News a Republican-controlled Senate will act as a check on the Democrats radical ambitions.

"We have (these) looming Georgia Senate runoff races on January the 6th and they are absolutely crucial to the control of the Senate," she said.

"The polls (for Republicans) are not looking good at the moment and there is a lot of distraction and anger among Trump supporters, which might mean they stay home."
