🚨 Bill C-12 has received royal assent: what happens next?

Canada has introduced historic changes to its immigration policies! 🇨🇦

On 26 March 2026, Bill C-12 received Royal Assent, and the government now has unprecedented powers to process applications and immigration documents.

What does this mean?
The authorities can now suspend or amend categories of documents, including visas, eTA, work permits and study permits, in cases of fraud, administrative errors or risks to security and health.

New rules for asylum seekers – some applications may now be deemed inadmissible.
Expanded sharing of personal data between government agencies, and sometimes with foreign governments.

❗ Whether you are already in Canada or just planning to immigrate – these changes may affect your immigration situation.
