Living in Indianapolis | More than the Indy 500

Hello All, Welcome to my channel!

Indianapolis, Indiana is located in America's heartland and is an misunderstood city. This city is not sexy, but it has a lot more to offer than you may think. Indy has more residents than cities like Denver, Boston, or Nashville. Many Millennials have been moving here to take advantage of the lower cost of living and decent job opportunities. The median home price is well below the nation's average and this creates opportunity for many who are looking to relocate and purchase a home. Their property taxes and sales taxes are pretty low in the area. So, saving money is definitely possible even with a lower than average median income.

Crime is a concern in Indianapolis, in regards to both violent and property crime. If you are looking to move to Indianapolis, please make sure you visit the area and ensure you know 1) where you can afford and 2) where you feel safe.

The area offers more diversity than some areas in the midwest and runs on the liberal side in Marion county. If you don't want to live in a liberal area, anywhere outside of Marion county would likely be a better shot. The weather here is going to be humid in the summer and cold and snowy in the winter. It isn't as cold or snowy here as you will find up north in some places like Minnesota or Wisconsin.

If you are looking for entertainment, Indy doesn't match up well against places that are comparable to its size; however, don't discount Indy just yet. If you are a sports fan they have NBA, WBNA and NFL teams in town. Also, Butler, Purdue, and Indiana University are within about an hour for educational or sporting opportunities. Monument circle is probably the most recognizable landmark in the city and offers a host of shops, coffee, and restaurants throughout the area. Indy has some great family and outdoor attractions as well (See the links below for more on this).

Indianapolis hosts the indianapolis 500 every year and it is one of Nascar's biggest races. The track always has a large audience and is an ideal place to watch a lot of left turns. This last weekend they hosted the qualifying rounds and this weekend the biggest names in Nascar will compete to see who will get to down the milk.

The go to suburbs in the area would likely be the most attractive if you are moving to the area would include, but are not limited to:
- Avon
- Noblesville
- Greenwood
- Fishers
- Westfield
- Zionsville
- Carmel
They all have their own distinct communities and I would recommend seeing which one fits your budget and desires to determine which one is right for you.
