Adventures in Accessible Scrollytelling
The BBC News Visual Journalism team have recently experimented with new storytelling formats - including 'scrollytelling' and 3D data visualisations. Experimenting with libraries such as REGL, Three.js and D3, the developers have been pushing the boundaries of the newsroom to create immersive and engaging data journalism. Becky Rush from BBC News Visual Journalism discusses how some of these ambitious projects were tackled as well as the ways the team made them as inclusive as possible - from translating them into multiple languages to considering the physical impact of animations, screen reader and no javascript experiences, and making anything work in Internet Explorer."
