Can undocumented immigrants freely travel around the United States?

00:46 Can undocumented immigrants freely travel around the U.S.? By October 2020, the Federal government will issue a REAL ID which is the only ID you can use to fly in and around the U.S. But as of now you can use any valid ID’s like foreign passports or a U.S. drivers license

01:31 Undocumented immigrants can get passports from the country of origin. And present their passports to apply for a U.S. driver’s license.

02:11 As long as you have a state-issued driver’s license you don’t have to be legal in order to travel

02:15 But all of that will change when the REAL ID takes into effect on October 1st, 2020 and we’ll do a whole segment on that law.

02:25 But as of now, you can fly anywhere in the United States as long as you have a valid ID.

02:35 If you decide to travel by car be aware and mindful of U.S. checkpoints because if you don’t have the necessary documents you may be detained by the Border Patrol.

03:10 But you can fly to all U.S. territories by just presenting a valid ID even if you’re an undocumented immigrant.
