Chair Exercises for Seniors| Stretching & Mobility Workout
Hi,
Ant and Karo here - if you're looking for chair exercises for seniors or gentle exercises you can do anywhere, this is for you. This beginner workout is the perfect home workout to boost senior fitness
especially from the comfort of your own home. Please join us in these beautiful surroundings listening to the sound of nesting birds in the trees as we filmed it by the lovely lake you can see in the background.
We are both in our 70's and we put this seated stretching gentle and easy exercises for seniors routine with our peer group in mind. Whether you use a chair, a Walker, or a Zimmer frame, these simple stretches will help you move more freely and make daily chores easier.
Ant, a retired PE teacher with 40 years of experience, guides us through a complete seated routine that warms you up, builds a little strength, and stretches your whole body. We show and suggest how to modify every move so you can work at your own pace. We want you to do whatever's comfortable for you – no equipment and no pressure whatsoever!
In this video we’ll be doing:
Seated marching to get our circulation going
Gentle breathing with arm raises
Sit-to-stand or chair squats for leg strength
Arm circles and sky punches for upper body mobility
Seated arm back stretch to ease stiffness
Chest stretch for better posture
Seated torso and neck twist to help spine mobility and neck stretching
Hamstring and calf stretches

We believe fitness should fit in with your life—no fancy gym or floor work required – all can be done in the comfort of your home standing, standing holding onto the back of a chair, a shelf/window ledge or sitting in a chair. I have personal experience that these exercises work to maintain independent movement.
