Natalie Wood and Robert Wagner's romance was what kept tabloids busy from the 1950s to the 1970s, providing much fuel for gossip with a whirlwind romance, followed by a wedding, a divorce, weddings with other spouses, and another wedding to patch up - in that order. Like 'em or hate 'em, you can't deny that Wood and Wagner's story is unique.
The couple met in 1956 when Wood was a movie star backed by years of fame having worked as a child and teen actor. Wagner, on the other hand, had appeared on the big screen in mostly small forgettable roles and a few leading roles that were reviewed poorly. But their romance would drive their fame, at least for as long as they were alive. The two instantly hit it off and got hitched the following year.
Despite how great the two looked together and the attention they garnered, which was undoubtedly a boon for their acting careers, Wood and Wagner separated only a little more than three years later. They reunited later in 1969 after Wood married and divorced Richard Gregson and Wagner married and divorced Marion Marshall.
Wood and Wagner's rollercoaster relationship was the cause of gossip then, but it's certainly not something worth looking back on all these years later. What makes their story a matter of curiosity even today is its end, or rather, Wood's end. The actor drowned at the age of 43 in mysterious circumstances when on a yacht with Wagner and co-star Christopher Walken.
In this video, we're covering Natalie Wood and Robert Wagner's disastrous relationship and its unfortunate end.
