The SAS Dog Who Parachuted Behind Enemy Lines 20 Times

In World War II, one of Britain’s most remarkable special operations veterans was not a soldier at all — he was a black and white collie named Rob.

Originally a family farm dog from Shropshire, Rob was donated to the British war effort and eventually joined the SAS during some of the most dangerous missions of the war. He parachuted behind enemy lines over North Africa and Italy more than 20 times, working alongside elite Special Air Service patrols deep in hostile territory.

This is the true story of Rob the War Dog — the dog who helped save SAS patrols, detected enemy soldiers before humans could, and earned the Dickin Medal, the animal equivalent of the Victoria Cross.

From desert raids against Rommel’s Afrika Korps to secret missions in Nazi-occupied Italy, Rob became one of the most decorated military animals in British history.
