Easy Way How To Fillet Fish (Fresh or Saltwater Species)
This easy method works for cleaning Bass, Bluegill, Red Snapper, Porgy. Almaco Jack, Snook, Redfish, Trout , Shark and many other species of fish. Learn this method of how to fillet and you're set to clean just a bout anything...
In this video I actually clean three different types of fish. All of the steps are basically the same when are cleaning your catch and desire to have boneless fillets when you are finished.
I learned how to fillet fish at a very young age. There are four things you need in order to do a good job:
1. A sharp knife
2. Good lighting
3. Patience
4. Flat and firm surface
Those three things are really easy to obtain and will help you do a really nice job on filleting your fish.
Here's a list of many different salt and freshwater fish I've fillet using this simple method:
Largemouth Bass
Bluegill
Shellcracker
Speckled Trout
Mangrove Snapper
Spanish Mackerel
Cobia
Shark
Speckled Crappie
Porgy
Snook
Redfish
Almaco Jack
Scup
Lane, Vemilion and Red Snapper
Catfish
Sheepshead
Red, Black and Gag Grouper
King Mackerel
Scamp
Drum
Jack Crevalle
Tuna
I'm sure there are other species that I've used this easy way of filleting fish on that I didn't list, but you get the idea...This method works for filleting just about any species of fresh or saltwater fish out there.
There are a few that require a different method. Here are some that I can think of:
Pickerel
Gar
Flounder
The main thing to remember when you are cleaning your catch is to not get in a hurry. If you use a sharp knife and allow plenty of time to do a good job, you will.
I've also included in this video some footage of feeding catfish. There were hundreds of them at the fish cleaning station just waiting for me to throw the scraps into the water.
