‘From Prisoner to Candidate’ Jovan Jackson runs for City Council!

Veterans In Politics video internet talk show interviewed Jovan Jackson candidate for North Las Vegas City Council.

Jackson was born and raised in Las Vegas, his family rooted in North Las Vegas.

Jackson is an entrepreneur in mental health services. Then he became addicted to drugs and went through dark times.

One day he teamed up with one of his good friends and he was the driver in a robbery committed by his friend.

Jackson was incarcerated in High Desert State Prison and lost it all.

The host asked about his time in the High Desert and Jackson begin to explain the treatment of being in a cage for months. Jackson said that the showers were infested with flys and the showers were beyond disgusting. If you don’t have money on your books, you are screwed!

Jackson admits he has a violent felony on his record for conspiracy.

The host asked; “if you are a felony how can you run for public office”?

Jackson responded that On July 1, 2019, Assembly Bill 431 of the 2019 Legislative Session took effect. Under this new law, any Nevada resident who is convicted of a felony has immediately restored the right to vote upon the individual’s release from prison. There is no waiting period or action required by the individual. The restoration of voting rights is automatic and immediate upon the individual’s release from prison, regardless of the category of felony committed or whether the individual is still on either parole or probation.

Jackson would like to fund the school system and mental illness. In addition to preserving the old shopping centers in Ward 3 and making it a Downtown Summerlin atmosphere to keep his constituents closer to home and keep the economy growing for his district.

Jackson knows exactly what the role is of a city councilman many candidates that run for this seat have no idea.
