THE ARMED FORCES RADIO AND TELEVISION NETWORK WOLFMAN JACK 74402

This episode of "AIr Force Now, includes a segment about the Armed Forces Radio and Television Network, features Mr. Ultracool "Wolfman Jack" and other talent appearing on the network. It begins with images of Los Angeles including the Brown Derby, and the Hollywood home of the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service, and shows how the broadcasts are welcomed at places like the Galena Air Force Station in remote Alaska. The film dates to the Vietnam War and includes a segment showing evacuation of injured troops by aircraft to U.S. hospitals, a segment about the Ramstein Air Force Base's joint reconnaissance exercise known as Royal Flush. Other segments include motor pool operations in South Korea at Osan Air Force Base, a visit by the Air Force Band to Rio de Janeiro, Air Force Boxing, and finally at the 21 minute mark, tracking of Soviet Aircraft by U.S. interceptors.

The American Forces Network (AFN) is the brand name used by the United States Armed Forces Radio and Television Service (AFRTS, commonly pronounced "A-farts") for its entertainment and command internal information networks worldwide. The AFN worldwide radio and television broadcast network serves American servicemen and women, Department of Defense and other U.S. government civilians and their families stationed at bases overseas, as well as U.S. Navy ships at sea. AFN broadcasts popular American radio and television programs from the major U.S. networks. It is sometimes referred to as the Armed Forces Network. AFRTS, American Forces Network and AFN are registered trademarks of the U.S. Department of Defense. It is based at Fort George G. Meade in Maryland.
