Kittens in protective sock onesies

This is a short tutorial about how to make sock onesies for orphaned kittens. These little outfits help save lives. For some orphaned kittens the instinct to suckle is quite overwhelming and at times they will suckle inappropriately on their fellow litter mates. They often aim for anything that protrudes, and unfortunately that means genitalia. Suckling kittens can cause not only, pain and discomfort, but infection and even irreparable damage that can possibly cause the kitten to need surgery or even need to be euthanized. These outfits in conjunction with safe time apart from each other can save lives and hopefully break the suckling habit. These outfits are not a cure all, but they do help tremendously to keep the kittens together , socializing safely for periods of supervised time . At night, while we sleep, I still keep the kittens separated from each other. Obviously, putting a sock onesie on a 1 or 2 week old kitten is much easier than it is on my 4 1/2 week olds here in this video. As kittens age they start using their litter boxes, as mine currently have, so they are using their sock onesies less and less. But, I’ll be honest, these little onesies were a lifesaver at 1 and 2 weeks old, as it helped me to keep them together as much as possible. I hope this video helps to save lives.
