Ghost apples and other sinister fruit phenomena sound like something out of a Halloween horror story! Ghost apples are a rare occurrence in freezing rain when the ice coating on apples becomes solid while the fruit inside turns to mush, leaving behind a spooky, hollow shell that resembles an eerie, translucent apple. Another eerie fruit phenomenon is "blood rain," where red or blood-like rainwater falls from the sky, a phenomenon attributed to the presence of microscopic algae. Then there are "bleeding trees" that exude red or dark-colored sap, like the Pterocarpus angolensis, which is sometimes called the Bloodwood tree. Which one do you find the scariest?
