Isle of Skye - Sleat Peninsula: An Idyllic Cottage Vacation in the Garden of Skye

Want to know where to stay on the Isle of Skye? Look no further than the Sleat peninsula! Situated on the Southern edge of Skye, this is the perfect base to explore both the island and Lochalsh on the mainland. Known as the Garden of Skye because its fertile soils contrast with the barren moorlands of much of the island, this area is dotted with high quality hotels and self catering options for the traveller. In this film I stayed at the Wee Croft House, which enjoys incredible views east over the Sound of Sleat to the Knoydart peninsula on the mainland. The sunrises are spectacular, as are the storms.

The star attraction along the peninsula is Armadale Castle and Gardens, which overlook the ferry terminal at Armadale and offer lush vegetation and stunning views at any time of the year. Stop for coffee or lunch at the An Crubh centre before taking the narrow road to the west side of the peninsula with its dramatic vistas of Skye's Cuillin Hills, together with Rum, Eigg and Canna across the Sea of the Hebrides.
