Sir Roger Scruton (1944-2020) | English philosopher, writer, and composer.

"[Sophie] presented me an image of serenity in herself, which I tried to transcribe in a little portrait, into music, into a little piano piece which would convey something of her composure and orderliness, and also hint at what she is in her appearance: it contains a little quotation from Debussy, from that 'La Fille aux Cheveux de Lin,' because she has flaxen hair, too."
