2013 Beacon Award Winner - Donald A. Barone, D.O.

Donald A. Barone, D.O., of Westampton, NJ, a key leader in the development of Kennedy's Neuroscience Program, helped Kennedy to achieve its goal of becoming a regional leader in neurology and neurosurgery. His cutting-edge Multiple Sclerosis clinical trials demonstrate the efficacy of several new therapies and treatments and gained him regional and national recognition. He has served on the Kennedy Health System Board of Directors and the Kennedy University Hospital Board of Trustees. He is an Associate Professor, Chief of the Division of Neurology at UMDNJ-SOM, Section Head of Neurology at Kennedy University Hospital, and volunteers as medical director of the Muscular Dystrophy Clinic at Kennedy. Graduating from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Barone completed his Internship at Kennedy University Hospital - Stratford and his Residency at the University of Vermont College of Medicine Hospital. He also completed a Muscular Dystrophy Association-funded Fellowship in Neuromuscular Diseases at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center.
