Router and Firewall Migration - Tips and Suggestions To Simplify

I recently upgraded my internet connection and discovered that my current firewall/router could not handle the 1 Gig internet speed with filtering, and IDS/IPS was enabled. After trying various tuning options and upgrading the hardware my firewall was running on, I still had no luck, so I finally decided it was time to switch.
