The Death of Dystopia | Valentina Casasus | TEDxYouth@ASF
Are we living in the 1984 George Orwell imagined, or perhaps in Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World? Valentina is convinced that we are. In a talk that looks at how closely our current world resembles those that dystopian writers once warned us about, Valentina heralds individuality as the truest form of rebellion, and encourages us to break past the four walls of our reality to gain control of it. I’m Valentina Casasus and I’m going to be talking about dealing with anxiety, binge eating disorder and mental health awareness. I've had personal experience with the topic, and because I hold it close to heart I found it so important to talk about. Through discourse and understanding, we begin to break down the stigmas that cage people suffering from mental health disorders. Small behaviors have big impacts, and only through discussion can we begin to change our own behaviors, and make the load the word mental health carries a lot lighter. I want to be part of that discussion, I want everyone to be part of that discussion, and it's because I understand at a personal level, that I think that this is so important This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
