This video describes the experimental determination of distribution coefficient of benzoic acid between water and toluene. The experiment is based on the theoretical basis of Nernst distribution law which states that the ratio of concentration of the solute (benzoic acid) in two immiscible liquids (water and toluene) is a constant called as distribution coefficient or partition coefficient.
