How to Edit Guitars in Logic Pro X Like a Pro!

In Today's video, I show you how to edit guitars in Logic Pro X!

Before you jump in!

I highly suggest playing the parts super tight, or re-tracking if possible. Not only will this save you time and frustration, but it will sound better. Great sound starts at the source, so focus on getting the right take.

FLEX TIME
-Click on Flex, it will automatically analyze the transients (the beginning of notes)

When you turn on Flex Time you can quantize the audio.

Find where the audio is falling on the grid to determine what value to quantize at. If you’re unsure, experiment! You can always undo. Tip: I/8th or 1/16th notes work 90% of the time

Select polyphonic. Poly means more than one note playing at a time, so this is great for guitar.

Once you quantize, the audio will take on different colors.

White color represents anything that’s been compressed or shortened.
Grey color represents what’s been expanded or stretched
Blue color means that part has pretty much stayed the same
Sometimes logic will quantize improperly, so you can manually move the flex markers as well. (This will also follow your snap.)

Sometimes it’s just best to remove it (hover above the flex marker until you see the x and click it) and restore the original playing

Sometimes Logic will put a flex marker where it doesn’t need to be (like in the middle of a chord), so make sure to go through all the audio and check it thoroughly

You can also manually add your own flex markers.

Keep in mind, editing audio can quickly result in artifacts if it’s overdone.

Snaps Modes

Smart mode- will snap to grid, but can go between where you want)

Beat mode-snaps to beats in measure 4/4 = snap to 1/4 notes

Division- only snaps to grid value divisions.
