The #1 thing self-published authors keep getting wrong (are you making these mistakes?)

I made this video awhile ago, but most of it is still valid for 2018 and beyond. The #1 thing authors get wrong is writing, designing and publishing books for themselves, based on their own personal preferences, instead of considering market, demand and design conventions by genre. It's not enough to have the skills to write, publish and design a great book, it also has to resonate with and attract your target audience, and also show up in search results so you have free, organic visibility (so you don't spend all your profit on promotion, marketing and advertising).
