I did a lot of research regarding FFS surgeons around the globe. Facial Team certainly appealed to me so I first met Dr Capitan & Dr Bellinga in Manchester in 2015. I felt at ease talking with them both, was inspired by the Virtual FFS images (from Alexandra) & felt I was dealing with Dr’s with not only a very high standard of professionalism but also integrity & importantly an empathy for trans women.
I had my surgery on my 44th birthday, May 5th 2016! This is my list of procedures – forehead reconstruction, rhinoplasty, mandibular reduction & chinplasty, trachea shave. I spent two nights in hospital, followed by a week in Marbella recovering. The procedure isn’t exactly painful, more just uncomfortable & of course there’s bruising & a lot of swelling but considering the invasive nature of the surgery, I was really surprised how quickly & easily the body recovers.
I’m now 11 weeks post-op. I have very minor swelling in areas, a bit numb in places, plus a little bruising under my eyes but essentially, I’m done! I met Dr Capitan 3 weeks ago (again in Manchester) & he was happy with my recovery, which put my mind at rest.
The FACIALTEAM experience was everything I needed & expected, here’s an example – while recovering in Marbella post-op, I had a bit of pain in my mouth, I was worried about infection so I rang Carmen (patient co-ordinator) and within 5 minutes a driver was waiting outside my apartment to take me straight back to hospital for a check up (I was fine, no infection!). Now, that’s real service & commitment, attending to patients needs & worries. This says so much about FACIALTEAM to me, they care!
