Full Day Of Clinic - Life Of An Internal Medicine Physician

The difference between a full day of clinic from a full day in the ICU can vary in the life of an internal medicine physician, especially one that is hospital inpatient heavy.

I'll take you through one of my days as a medical resident on clinic week and how it's different from working in the ICU.

For one clinic starts at 9am as opposed to 5:30am on ICU days. That's several hours. I can use to get more sleep!

The extra hours allow me to check on the oil for my car, some time with the XBOX work on the TheMDJourney, breakfast and walking my puppy Kobe!

When it's time to get ready, I change into my medical pajamas, say goodbye to my wife and Kobe and hope in the car for a 30-40 minute drive. It's not all bad, I got some great audiobooks from our friends in Scribd to keep me company.

This clinic day has a lot of notes, orders, vaccination talk, patients and even sending a patient to the emergency room. All of that happens all before 4pm because that's when I start wrapping my day and head home.
