In this video Heimler takes you through Unit 7 Topic 7 of the AP U.S. History curriculum which is set in period 7 (1898-1945).

In the 1920s new technologies and manufacturing techniques helped focus the U.S. economy on the production of consumer goods. For example, the advent of the assembly line helped Henry Ford offer automobiles at a drastically reduced price.

Additionally, new forms of mass media like radio and cinema were offered to Americans and through it came national mass culture. However, this widening spread of mass culture also had the effect of emphasizing regional distinctions, for example, in the black community and in rural areas.
