Happy Bears Day

In 2019, the EAZA BEAR Tag created a special event -called Happy Bears Day -with focus on the bear.
This event was a really good opportunity to teach the visitors about the Ursidae species and also it was a good chance to collect donations from the public for bear in-situ programs.
These in-situ programs were chosen by the Bear TAG members.

Last year, the participants had creative workshops where the children could make bear related items or enrichment tools for bears.
They organized craft corners and face painting.
They put up stands where the zoo’s staff talked about the bears and their conservation possibilties and of course, they arranged bear feeding at the bear enclosures.
This year was a big change for everybody…
Many EAZA zoos closed to the public during the COVID-19 outbreak, but they were providing the highest level of animal care and education and fun via online events and educational resources.
This event-because there was no chance for a face to face meeting- was a really good opportunity to use ONLINE techniques, and teach the followers worldwide about the 8 bear species.
