Replace drive shaft inner cv joint VW Passat CC Audi Skoda Seat VAG WannabeMechanic cap planetara

Hello Wannabe Mechanics,in this episode we will replace the drive shaft’s inner cv joint on a Volkswagen Passat CC due to a rare symptom. In 5th and 6th gear between 80-100 km/h, while accelerating, the car starts trembling and transmits vibrations to the body. There are many diagnostic methods out there on the internet but this symptom is quite rare and people end up spending a lot of money replacing good parts and not solving the real issue which is even move frustrating. Many mechanics mistaken this symptom with a failing clutch because it is hard to tell them apart . This happens especially when the right drive shaft’s inner joint is damaged because the right drive shaft is longer than the left and thus creating stronger vibrations. This operation is a bit tricky but if you follow the steps shown I am confident that you can do it with no risks involved.
Constant-velocity joints (also known as CV joints) allow a drive shaft to transmit power through a variable angle, at constant rotational speed, without an appreciable increase in friction or play. They are mainly used in front wheel drive vehicles. The most common problem with CV joints is when the protective boot cracks or gets damaged. Once this happens, the grease comes out and moisture and dirt get in, causing the CV joint to wear faster and eventually fail due to lack of lubrication and corrosion. Usually outer CV-joint boots break first, as they have to endure more movement than the inner ones. CV boots are typically inspected during regular maintenance visits. Your mechanic will look for cracks, tears and other damage.
Other common symptoms of bad CV Joints are:
1. Loud clicking noises when turning
2. Grease on edge of tire coming from worn boots
3. Excessive vibration while driving
4. Difficulty to steer
5. Knocking & clacking noises
