INSANE! Plane Spotting at SKIATHOS AIRPORT (JSI) - Jetblast & Low Landings!

Here you have it, the full video from my spotting trip to the epic Skiathos Airport. This video includes footage filmed from Sept 21st until 24th 2021.
Skiathos Airport (JSI) is one of the most spectacular locations for aviation fans. With an extremely short runway (5,341ft) and very little in the way of space behind the runway. Meaning some insane jetblast and epic low landings; this combination usually draws quite a bit of attention from the tourists as you'll see in the video. Its all fun & games until someone gets hurt and there are warning signs everywhere warning people not to park cars, bikes or leave anything in the area and definitely not to stand in the way of the blast. There are even traffic lights on the road, stopping cars from passing behind the runway when a plane is landing or taking off. But these often go unnoticed by rather naïve tourists. I see it every time I visit Skiathos, that people are left truly baffled or blown away (literally), by the immense power of a jet aircraft taking off? Something anyone who knows aviation well, would expect. But often catches people off guard here, which can result in some serious injuries or worse.
In this video you'll see a good mixture of take off's & landings from various airlines & aircraft types & indeed in some quite variable weather conditions.
Starting on the day I arrived, Tuesday 21st September we see Skiathos' largest regular visitor. The Boeing 757 operated by TUI seen departing back to Birmingham after bringing me in. The 757's are being retired by TUI in October 2021, so this could well be one of the last times a 757 visits the island. The 737's have already replaced the flights to Manchester & Gatwick operated by TUI. At the time of filming the only service still using a 757 was the twice weekly Birmingham flight on a Tuesday & Friday.
On the second day (22nd Sept) the weather in the morning was awful to say the least. Quite gusty and lots of rain overnight had left the runway surface drenched. Surface water on a short runway, with poor lighting is basically a no go for many airlines to even attempt. Meaning a Condor A321 from Dusseldorf diverted to Athens after holding for nearly an hour! This however was no match for Ryanair, who decided to come in regardless making one of the lowest landings I've ever witnessed in my years of visiting Skiathos! Check it out at 7:49! The 737 is barely out of the turning loop before its on the ground, well before the PAPI lights. What do you think?! - Compare that arrival with the other Ryanair arrival at 25:52. The rain however does make for some great shots of the spray. The Condor A321 did eventually arrive after its diversion, almost 3 hours delayed.

Another insane spotting trip to Skiathos! Fabulous island to visit and awesome for avgeeks. Well worth a visit if you can go, definitely go. But do be careful in the jetblast. It can be so dangerous, don't underestimate it.
The lady who fell, was ok. She was shaken up and a bit battered with a bloody nose.
