John Baldry & Elton John - Flying (1971)

From the 1971 John Baldry album "It Ain't Easy." Side 1 was produced by Rod Stewart and side 2 by Elton John. This song was written by Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood & Ronnie Lane. The band backing up Baldry on this recording was Hookfoot, featuring Caleb Quaye on guitar and Roger Pope on drums.

Elton John and Rod Stewart had both worked with John Baldry back in the 60s, when Elton (Reg Dwight) was keyboardist in the band Bluesology. Elton made up his new name at that time taken the name "Elton" from Elton Dean, the sax player, and the name "John" from Long John Baldry!
