England 2018 - Family Trip

From busy London to the quiet english countryside, our funny family traveled for almost 2 weeks in England. The purpose of this trip was mainly to visit our family but also to explore this great country.

Details of the trip:
LONDON
Arrival at Heathrow Airport. Go to motel in Hackney in overground (kind of subway, cheaper and easier then renting a car).

Visit of the Liverpool street station in London.

Visit of King's Cross Station in London and platform 9 3/4.

Visit of Tower Bridge in London. You can take the overground and then walk by the Thames.

Visit of the Tower of London, plan 3-4 hours for a complete visit. You can also see the Crown Jewels that are kept in the Tower of London but you have to wait in line.

Visit of Borough Market. We walked there from the Tower Bridge.

We the booked a Sight Seeing Boat Tour on the Thames combined with a Sight Seeing Bus Tour. Those are fun since they explain what you see and where you are.

Visit of the Buckingham Palace. We wanted to see the changing of the guards but there was none that day so make sure to check in advance when it is possible to see it.

Visit of the Natural History Museum. Plan 2-3 hours. Very big museum, it's free and really interesting. Highly recommend.

OUT OF LONDON
Visit of my family in the English countryside.

Visit of Harvington Hall in Harvington. Not commun but very interesting. Although the kids found it a bit boring.

Visit of John Bonham's grave in Droitwich.

Visit of Warwick Castle in Warwick. Plan a full day, lots of activities and very fun to see.

Visit of Stratford-upon-Avon, William Shakespeare's birthplace. Nice little town where it's fun to walk around. Might be boring for kids.

Visit of Bath on our way to the airport. The Roman's Baths is definitely something to see, but you need a guide or an audio guide or else you don't really understand what everything is. Also there's lots of stores for shopping in Bath.

Visit of Stonehenge in Salisbury. Whatever you do, do not pay to hop on the bus. It's walkable (10-15 min of walk) and really they're just rocks. It's a tourist scam. When you don't pay you can't get close to the actual site but you can see well enough. We we're happy we didn't pay for that.
