Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated an ammonia-urea fertiliser plant in Dibrugarh, Assam, marking a major step toward fertiliser self-reliance in the Northeast. With an annual capacity of 1.27 million tonnes, the plant is expected to be operational by 2030 and will cater to Assam and neighbouring states. PM Modi highlighted improved fertiliser availability for farmers and criticised past governance failures. He also laid the foundation stone for a ₹10,600 crore brownfield fertiliser project at Namrup, aimed at boosting regional agriculture, employment, and industrial growth.
