Ending Export Development Surcharge: What Does the Industry Think?

Pakistan recently did something to make its exporters really happy: it abolished the export development surcharge.

What does the industry think of this move? Nukta asked Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, Senior Vice President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Magoon said while the EDS removal was a big relief, export promotion through the Export Development Fund must continue, especially for small exporters.

With nearly PKR 40 billion in the fund and higher tax collection from exporters, this money should be reinvested into exhibitions, delegations, and export development.
