She Was the Recipient of a Baboon Heart Transplant

Dr. Leonard Bailey, a pediatric cardiac surgeon at Loma Linda University Medical Center in California, transplanted a baboon heart into a premature baby infant known as Baby Fae. She lived for 21 days after the transplant, two weeks longer than anyone with a simian heart ever had before at the time of this surgery.
