Elk Echo Twin 45 guitar amp - 1 of 2

Here's a rare amp I revamped for my friend Rob. Well over 15 hours went into this amp. All electrolytic capacitors were replaced with Sprague atom. All of the "paper in oil" coupling capacitors were all dry/leaky so they were replaced with Mallory 150. Resistors are mostly wire wound. The preamp tubes seem original. A pair of JJ EL34 are on the output.

I managed to find this matching cabinet at a flea market an hour north from my place for only $10. One of the 12" Alnico speaker had a dead short (metered 1 ohm or so) and the other farted out on the low notes. I loaded the cab with new Eminence Legend GB128. The amp previously had low volume even after the cap job. These efficient speakers gave it the extra punch and volume it was lacking.
