Nicolai Wallner talks with Cecilie Bahnsen (part 1)
Nicolai Wallner and Cecilia Bahnsen have a conversation about art, what inspires her and collaborating with Galleri Nicolai Wallner.
In August 2017 and January 2018, Danish fashion designer Cecilie Bahnsen showed her Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter 2018 collections at Galleri Nicolai Wallner. Cecilie Bahnsen explains how inspired she was by the colours in the exhibition "Jump" (2017) and explains how they motivated her to use different colours in her collections. In the second fashion show, Dan Graham's stainless steel and two-way mirror glass pavilions formed the setting to the autumn/winter 2018 fashion show and advertisement campaign that was photographed the same day.
Even though the speed of things is different in fashion and art, Cecilie Bahnsen finds a lot of shared qualities such as the creative process behind the final presentations. Similar to a design collection, an exhibition has to work as a whole but the individual art piece also has to have its own effectiveness. Contradictory to our understanding of the fashion world, there is a sense of continuity in Cecilie Bahnsen's work. It is important to her that each collection is an evolution from the ones before and not a start-over.
